CHAIRMAN’S COMMENT

Greetings to our supporters and friends. Welcome to 2021.
Last year was a most challenging year for all of us. Not only has this global virus proven to be a health threat, with high mortality, but also the economic and social consequences have been dire.
In Uganda there have been school closures and the economic consequences of lockdowns have led to redundancies and closures of businesses. Our charity has, of course, been adversely affected.
The lockdown stopped the building of our Clinic in 2020! Thankfully, building has now restarted, but our plans to open in 2020 have been delayed to this coming year. Also, for much of the year the schools have been closed.
We also had the sad loss in July of one of our brightest students, Francis Nzigu, from cancer. Our prayers and sympathies go to his family. However, we were very proud to have Jonathan Morgan graduate with a Law Degree from Dar es Salaam University. This is a tremendous achievement. In addition, Twaha Nampala completed his qualification at the Iganga School of Midwifery and Nursing. In the same year that these 2 students successfully completed their studies, we are delighted that Cosmas Kibikyo has started as a student of Medicine and Surgery at Makerere University.
To round off the year BSUF Founder, Annette, has continued her good work providing hampers and support to 3 charities: Missionaries of the Poor, Butansi Dada’s Cub and Kamuli Teachers’ Association. We are also delighted to have Rebecca Luyiga on board, as our BSUF Administration Manager and Accountant.
Trustee Jon Exton and myself look forward to visiting Uganda this coming year for the opening of the Medical Clinic and to see all our friends there.
Thank you all for your support.
Our Medical Clinic

At the beginning of the 2019 Green Heat International, under the management of Vianney Tumwesige, took over the construction of the Medical Clinic. The building structure is complete and facing bricks are being installed. Delays in the delivery of doors and windows – as a result of the lockdown – have impeded completion. We now expect the opening to be sometime in 2021 when business returns to normal in Uganda.
Thanks to TMAD (Theatre Make A Difference Trust) we have the funds for the building, but we seek more funds to complete the fitout of the clinic & to hire some initial staff.

Jonathan Morgan Oketayot
We are delighted to announce that Jonathan graduated in December, with a Law Degree from Dar es Salaam University. This was a magnificent result for one of our students. He is now keen to take a Master’s Degree, for which he has already been selected as a scholar student.
Cosmas Kibikyo
Cosmas is currently a student of Medicine & Surgery at Makerere University
in Kampala. As Cosmas has told us: “I am so grateful to report that the university administration opened especially for us to take our end of year
exams; from 13th November – 21st December 2020. Despite the stress, we were very relieved. They went well for me and I am hoping for good results.
Thank you so much for your support. God bless and I wish you a very Happy New Year for 2021.”

Twaha Nampala
Twaha has been taking his Certificate in Nursing for the past 2 ½ years.
We have supported him through his schooling and his nursing training.
As he says; “I, Nampla Twahi, take this opportunity to appreciate the support, which Children of Uganda (UK) has given me for 6 years. I successfully completed my nursing course on 9th December 2020. We are just waiting the final results, but I believe I will succeed. May the Almighty bless you abundantly. Thank you.”
Thank you to the Signum Foundation
The Signum Foundation has supported BSUF for 10 years, primarily with the successful education of Jonathan Morgan – during his secondary schooling in Kampala and then his Degree in Law at Dar es Salaam University. This Polish charitable foundation continues its support, funding Cosmas’s medical studies and some of our students in their vocational training. Their strong support has been most appreciated over the years. Thank you so much.

BSUF play Santa Claus in Kamuli
We provided funds for BSUF Founder Annette and new Administrator Rebecca, to make up Christmas hampers to bring a bit of much needed cheer. They distributed the hampers to “Brothers of the Poor” who help the poor & disadvantaged, as well as the locals in Kamuli.
