Welcome to Children of Uganda (UK), a registered charity supporting the Buyemba Suubira Uganda Foundation [BSUF] in Uganda.

We provide sponsors for the education of orphans and deprived children through their schooling and beyond so that in the future they can earn a living to support their own families.

We also look after their health and wellbeing, which is the reason we are now fundraising to raise funds for our new Clinic and Community Centre.

Our Charity Programme & Projects

As we have matured, we have expanded our programme and launched new projects to enable the whole community to become more self sufficient.
Child Education Programme & Vocational Training

Children of Uganda (UK) started supporting BSUF in Uganda in 2008. Over this time we have supported over 100 children through their primary & secondary schooling and now we fund some of our older students in further education so that they are able to earn a living.

We would not be able to do this without the support of our generous sponsors.

Community
Centre & Clinic

We are building our Health Clinic to provide ongoing healthcare for the community, which they currently do not have. We now our seeking further funds to equip and furnish the clinic.

When children get sick the parent(s) or guardian tend to do little about it – until they get really sick and then it is up to a 2 hour walk to the nearest hospital!

Micro Funding Self Help Women’s Groups

We have now set up four Women’s Self Help groups, which meet on a regular basis in the Kamuli area. The women, and a few male members, all put in a small amount of cash (under £1) at each meeting – which is given to the member in most need at the time. We also provide loans for the women to start small businesses.

Agricultural Development Programme

In March 2008 BSUF provided two piglets to a group of 10 women who started a piggery farming project.

We have introduced a Permaculture Education Programme for local farmers, so that they can use better practices to get a better yield from their crops.

  • Monthly sponsorship of £10 per month allows us to support the educational needs of one child through primary education.
  • Monthly sponsorship of £20 per month helps towards other educational needs, such as uniforms, stationery, etc as well as contributing towards the higher cost of secondary education.
  • Individual sponsorship designed for specific children with special needs, to see them through their full education. Such sponsorship is undertaken via direct agreement with the involved parties.
  • Ongoing or one-off donations can be made to one of the following programs:
  • Construction of the health and community centre and other infrastructure like the borehole, power generation, etc.
  • Adult education classes.
  • Women’s Self Help groups (income generating activities).
  • We are looking for medical students, nurses, doctors, dental professionals, teachers, builders or anyone who would like to make a difference by helping out in our programs in Butansi village and the Kamuli district in Uganda.
  • We have quite a small team in the United Kingdom, so we are looking for people who can volunteer and help with BSUF fundraising events in the UK.
  • A sponsored event like a walk, run or a bike ride
  • A bake sale in your work, school, university and/or church community.
  • Support through your local school – where they may have a charity day; eg ‘non uniform’ days.
  • Organise a fundraiser dinner with friends & family.
